Days seem to run together at times. Only half the battle is fought in the attempt to live free of addictive behaviours. Many people can abstain through various resources and contain their destructive desires. The challenge we face here is to disciple men in the art of managing their freedom. To manage freedom men must do the "three knows": know God, know themselves, know others. To know in this context means one thing, intimacy. Intimacy is a key to freedom. We were made for intimate relationships with God and others. Addiction destroys intimacy, we measure the level of addiction not in the quantity of substances consumed but in the level of destruction in regards to personal relationships.
We have a rare option here at the Kyabram Campus to slow things down. We learn to sit with pain, to be drawn by relationships, to reflect on the shortcomings of our past, to focus on the task of today. We come alive to the love song Jesus is singing over us, we hear our emotions roar; we are known and know others. We learn to be exposed without fear of rejection. Days pass quickly here but they don’t blur anymore, because moments matter. Everything God allows us to see, taste, hear and feel matters.
If you need to stop the destruction to your relationships and learn how to manage freedom we want to help.
